Grant Policy

The foundation takes a proactive, strategic approach to giving and is not currently accepting unsolicited proposals. Grant applications are by invitation only.
Our belief is that the world is becoming more and more competitive and we have to promote the value of education to our youth. Education is their passport to the future and without it they will be left behind.

About Us

The GMFF is a private charitable foundation that was established in 2013 with a gift from the founder Gregory A Mason.
The executive directors of the foundation are Greg Mason and Stacey Emerson.
The GMFF looks to support three main community based activities in the fields of youth, social welfare and health sciences.
The foundation is based in Toronto and focuses its grant giving in the Greater Toronto area.The GMFF is a private charitable foundation that was established in 2013 with a gift from the founder Gregory A Mason.

The Founder Gregory A. Mason

Gregory A. Mason was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1962.
He attended University of Toronto and graduated in 1983.  He entered the automotive in 1983 and enjoyed roles as a sales person, sales manager, general manager and in 1991, at the age of 28, he purchased Ontario Hyundai, located in Oshawa, Ontario. 
In 1997, the dealership was relocated to a new location and new facility in Whitby, where it still operates today. greg Mason owned Ontario Hyundai for 25 years and grew the business into teh premiere Hyundai dealership in Canada. In 2015, Mr. Mason sold the business and retired to enjoy golf, tennis, curling and travel. Retirement also offered opportunities for more constructive giving by the GMFF.

Mission Statement


The GMFF focuses on community based initiatives in the fields of youth, social welfare, education and mental health sciences Our priorities are
1. Strong and trusted leadership
2. Minimal expense ratio
3. Targeted giving to organizations that are focused, efficient and make a difference
4. Maintaining a giving strategy that allows for sustainability

Grants

The foundation focusses on a small number of targeted commitments and also provides a limited number of grants to selected organizations each year.

Big Bothers and Big Sisters of Toronto
Sunnybrook health sciences center
Jade. Org
Support the Humbolt Broncos Fund.
The Ontario Hyundai Scholarship Fund which included 40 Durham Region gifted students with $4000 each towards their post-secondary education.
RBC race for the Kids Fund.The foundation focusses on a small number of targeted commitments and also provides a limited number of grants to selected organizations each year.
